Account and Passport
One account, two ways in. Sign in with an email address or Google, or with a wallet; either one creates the account, and the other can be added later. Your Passport, your Root, your Keys and your points belong to the account, never to an email address or a wallet address.
The two doors
Email or Google
Sign in with your email address, or with your Google account. Nothing about this door needs a wallet, and nothing about it is written to a chain.
A wallet
Sign in by signing a plain statement with your wallet (Sign-In with Ethereum, EIP-4361). Signing in sends no transaction and costs no gas. A wallet that already belongs to another ARKZ account is refused by name, so one wallet can never open two accounts. When your browser offers more than one wallet, you choose which one signs.
One account, two credentials
Whichever door you came in by, the other can be added from your settings. Your primary wallet is the one your Passport is keyed to; you can change it later under the same protection as every other change of identity.
Your PIN
You set a six-digit PIN with KNOA in your first conversation. It protects every change of identity:
- moving your Passport to a new wallet;
- changing your primary wallet;
- changing your account email address.
How it works:
- When you have a second factor (an authenticator app), it is checked first, then the PIN.
- A correct PIN gives one approval, for one action, for ten minutes, and it is used once.
- Five wrong answers pause PIN checks for 15 minutes. Each further pause doubles, up to 24 hours.
- ARKZ stores only a peppered Argon2id hash of your PIN, never the PIN itself.
If you forget your PIN, reset it from Settings, Security. An email-confirmed reset takes effect 48 hours after you confirm it. An account with no email confirms with a signature from the wallet that holds its Passport, with the same delay. Completing or cancelling a reset asks for the same proof again.
The Passport and the Deed
Your Passport is your identity on chain. It is keyed to one wallet, and every ARKZ contract that needs to know who you are reads it. It records the season you joined once the chain confirms your registration. Your Deed sits beside it and links your identity to your authorship. The same wallet always holds both, and they only ever move together.
Moving your Passport to a new wallet
A Passport moves only with your signature, your PIN and ARKZ's approval, and only after a waiting period you can cancel.
- In Settings, Security, choose the wallet you are moving to.
- Confirm with your second factor, when you have one, and your PIN.
- Sign the move with the wallet that holds your Passport today. Smart wallets sign through ERC-1271.
- The move approver, a separate ARKZ key used for nothing else, signs the same move, and the move is scheduled on chain.
- After 24 hours the move can be completed. It must be completed within seven days, or it lapses.
- Your Passport and your Deed move in one transaction, or neither moves.
Until the move completes, the wallet that holds your Passport can cancel it at any time, and so can ARKZ's incident key. Your XP, your points, your Root and your history stay with you: a move changes the wallet they are shown beside, never the balance.
A Passport held by a Key's account does not move this way.
Changing your account email
Changing your email address takes the same protection: your second factor, when you have one, and your PIN. Your old address receives an undo link that works for 24 hours.
Status
Wallet sign-in, the PIN and the Passport move are built and tested, and they are not open yet. This page describes how each one works when it opens. Email and Google sign-in are open today.
